It is soapy when touching the skin, no odor, mildly sour bitter firstly then some sweet. 

Soluble in water, ethyl alcohol, glycerinum, ether and volatile oil.  

The water solution is faintly acid.

It can volatilize with vapor and loses one molecular water at 100-105℃, which is metaboric acid; heating for long time at 104-160℃ continuously, it is pyroboric acid; boric oxide at higher temperature. 

The raw material is imported borax.
